Jean-Claude Killy was born on August 30, 1943 in Saint-Cloud (France), is a retired skier who won three Olympic Gold Medals (3 Medals in total), six World Championships World (6 Medals in total), two Generals of the World Cup (and four World Cups in different disciplines) and fifteen victories in the Alpine Ski World Cup (with a total of 21 podiums).
Killy won the triple crown of alpine skiing with 3 Gold Medals at the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Games (France) in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Downhill. Previously Killy was a winner of the Alpine Ski World Cup in 1967 and 1968.
He also starred in a 1972 film called Snow Job in which he had a role as a ski teacher. The ski resorts of Val d’Isère and Tignes were renamed l’Espace Killy in his honor.
From 1977 to 1994 he was a member of the alpine skiing executive committee of the International Ski Federation.
Jean-Claude Killy also had a short career as a race driver between 1967 and 1970 participating in the Paris-Dakar Rally. Killy served as president of the Tour de France partnership between 1992 and 2001, and was also co-chairman of the 1992 Olympic Games in Albertville. He has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1995.
In 2000 he was awarded the Legion of Honor, the most important decoration in France.
