Jay Armstrong Johnson’s Biography
Armstrong Johnson was born and raised in Fort Worth, where he began taking drama classes in his tenth year of studies. He debuted professionally at thirteen years of age at Casa Mañana. At seventeen, he received a scholarship to study at the Steinhardt School of the University of New York, where he obtained a degree in Music with a specialty in Vocal Performance and Musical Theater.
He is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association.
He debuted in the musical Hair where he played Claude, followed by roles in such works as: Wild Animals You Should Know, Working, Sweeney Todd, The Last Goodbye, A Day in New York, Hands On A Hardbody, Pool Boy Hairspray and West Side Story.
He auditioned for the role of Jack Kelly in Newsies but was defeated by Jeremy Jordan.
His film and television credits include Sex and the City 2, It Could Be Worse and Law & amp; Order: Special Victims Unit.
On November 24, 2015 it was announced that he was hired to play recurrently Will Olsen, a brilliant recruit with zero social skills or empathy in the television series ABC Quantico.
