In 1973 he accepted a position in the DA's office in Dade County. During this time, accusations about his sexual orientation were used by his opponent Jack Thompson in his campaign against Reno. He left the Attorney General's office in 1976 to partner with a private law firm. \n In 1978 she was appointed attorney general for Dade County (now called Miami-Dade).
