James Ingram is an American singer of music Soul and R & B born on February 16, 1952 [appointment & nbsp; required] in Akron, Ohio.

James Ingram’s Biography

Ingram was trained as a self-taught musician, being able to play piano, guitar, bass, percussion and synthesizers. He began his career in the seventies as part of the band Revelation Funk. Around this time he developed fame in Los Angeles as a studio singer called the attention of the producer and composer Lamont Dozier of the famous Holland-Dozier-Holland composition team of the Motown label. Dozier invited Ingram to collaborate with some material, which highlighted the song “Love’s Calling,” and which was part of the 1980 album Zingara.

In 1980, Ingram worked with Quincy Jones on his album The Dude, being the vocalist on “Just Once” and on “One Hundred Ways” which meant winning a Grammy Award for best vocalist R & B. Ingram’s debut album, It’s Your Night, appeared in 1983, including the ballad “There’s No Easy Way.” Meanwhile he worked with a lot of artists like Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Michael McDonald, Patti Austin, Anita Baker, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole, and Kenny Rogers.

In 1985 he won again a Grammy for “Yah Mo B There”, a song performed with Michael McDonald. In that same year he collaborated with other artists in the USA for Africa campaign, being one of the singers of the song “We are the world”. In 1986 Ingram sang a duo with Linda Ronstadt the main song of the soundtrack of the movie An American Tail called “Somewhere Out There”. He appeared in the television series Suburgatory in the episode «The Motherload».
