James Gang was an American rock and hard rock band; formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in the year 1966. One of the members of the band, guitarist and vocalist Joe Walsh, would become world famous when he joined the band Eagles later.

The band’s original line-up consisted of Jim Fox (drums), Tom Kriss (bass), Ronnie Silverman (guitar), Phil Giallombardo (keyboards) and Glen Schwartz (guitar). This group had in its history, multiple changes in its formation; being only Walsh (who joined the group in 1968 to replace Schwartz), the most stable member.

When Walsh enters the group, they publish their first album, entitled Yer ‘Album (1969). Among his best-known compositions are “Funk # 49” and “Walk Away”. During this period, James Gang becomes support of The Who, during a tour of England After the release of the albums James Gang Rides Again (1970), Thirds (1971) and James Gang live in Concert (1971); Walsh left the band to push after a brief solo career with the Eagles.

After several albums and some live performances with the inclusion and later death of the guitarist Tommy Bolin; James Gang officially separated in 1976. There were several reunions with his ex-members between the years 1996 to 1998 of 2001; then in 2005 to 2006 (in this last year, the band made an extensive tour of the United States and appeared on the Howard Stern radio program). In 2012, they had one last meeting, being the final one.
