Jahlil Okafor (born December 15, 1995 in Fort Smith, Arkansas) is an American basketball player who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA.

He had been heavily recruited since before the institute and had been at the top of the recruitment rankings for several years. In the 2012 U-17 Basketball World Championship, he won the MVP of the tournament by winning the gold medal for the United States team. In 2013, Okafor led the institute “Whitney Young” to the city championship of the Chicago Public High School League of 2013. He was an All-American in his third season as a junior in 2013. The following summer, he was selected in the best quintet of the tournament at the 2013 U-19 Basketball World Championship, where he also won the gold medal with the United States team.

Okafor led the institute “Whitney Young” to the final of the city championship of the Chicago Public High School League of 2014, where they were defeated by the institute “Curie High School” and Cliff Alexander. However, a week later the championship was canceled for the Curie Institute, since seven team players were ineligible since the start of the season. His 2014 season culminated with the state championship of the “Illinois High School Association” (IHSA) Class 4A. In his last season as “senior”, Okafor excelled in the All-Star competitions. He was Co-MVP at the 2014 McDonald’s All-American Game, sharing the accolade with Justin Jackson, and at the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic and leading his team at the 2014 Nike Hoop Summit. After the season, he won a wide All-American recognition and was named national player of the year by Parade, USA Today and McDonald’s, among others.
