Howard Green Duff (November 24, 1913 – July 8, 1990) was an American actor.

Howard_Duff’s Biography

Duff was born in Bremerton, Wash. His first film role was that of a prisoner in Fuerza Bruta (1947). His films include The Naked City (1948), All My Sons (1948), Panic in the City (1968), In Search of America (1971), A Wedding (1978) and No Way Out (No there is exit) (1987).

He acted in numerous films with his first wife, the actress and director Ida Lupino. One of Duff’s latest and best performances was that of Dustin Hoffman’s lawyer in the movie Kramer Vs. Kramer (1979).

On the radio Duff played the character of Dashiell Hammett Sam Spade between 1946 and 1950, starring in The Adventures of Sam Spade on three different networks – ABC, CBS and NBC. In 1951 he was replaced by Stephen Dunne.

On television he had different interpretations, one of them in an episode of the television series Climax! entitled Escape From Fear in 1955. In addition, Duff intervened with Ida Lupino in the CBS comedy Mr. Adams and Eve between January 1957 and September 1958. From October 1960 to April 1961 Duff worked in the role of Willie Dante in the series of adventures and mystery of NBC Dante. In 1964 he participated as guest artist in the episode “Prodigy” on the NBC medical series The Eleventh Hour, along with Jack Ging and Ralph Bellamy.

From September 1966 to January 1969, Duff was Detective Sergeant Sam Stone on the ABC series Felony Squad, where he worked with Dennis Cole. In the Eighties he acted in dramas like Flamingo Road, of the NBC, and Knots Landing and Dallas, both in the CBS.
