Henry Cavill’s Biography

Childhood and youth

Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill, better known as Henry Cavill, was born in Jersey, on the Channel Islands, which are dependencies of the British crown, son of Colin and Marianne, he has three older brothers, Piers, Nick and Simon; and one younger Charlie. His mother works as a secretary at a bank and his father is a stockbroker. His childhood he studied at St. Michael’s Preparatory School located in Jersey, and then he was enrolled in the public school Stowe School, which is a boarding school. located in the city of Buckingham, during his years of school education he participated in numerous plays in his school, and among the characters he played are Oberon from William Shakespeare’s play The Dream of a Midsummer Night, the character of Sonny LaTierri in the musical Grease and finally Hamlet, in the work entitled 40 minutes.

In an interview he stated that if he had not taken part in the performance, he would probably have signed up for the army since he has always been noticed or studied at the university Ancient History, specifically Egyptology.

In his years as a student at Stowe School, he met actor Russell Crowe, who was at the school for the filming of some scenes from the movie Test of Life. Cavill participated as an extra and took this opportunity to ask Crowe for advice on the acting career. They had had a break during filming and the boys had decided to play a ball game. Russell Crowe approached to see them play and he caught the attention of the boy who threw, since it seemed that he was the one who had all the control. Later it was this boy, Henry Cavill, who approached him and started asking him questions about acting. Crowe saw the seriousness in his eyes and told him the truth about being an actor: “a challenge that depends on you, nobody is going to give it to you”; A few days later, while Russell Crowe was preparing a gift box for the boy who acted as his son, he remembered Henry and sent him a box as well. Something that seemed very curious to Crowe is that both boys put a dedication card. The boy who acted as his son wrote: “You come from a long line of generals” -line of the movie Gladiator-, and this boy, years later, entered the army. To Henry’s, he wrote: “‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, basically, if you want to be an actor, strive and do it.” Twelve years later and about three months of working together in the film Man of Steel, Russell Crowe approached him and asked: “Do I know you from somewhere?” Cavill smiled and said: “Remember when you were in Stowe School ?, do you remember the boy who approached him with questions about acting ?, that’s me, “Russell replied:” Really? What did I tell you? “and Henry said: “You told me they get paid pretty well, but they treat you like shit,” to which Russell replied, “It’s you, a pleasure to meet you again,” and extended his hand. It was in this film (Man of Steel) that they acted as father and son.
