Greg Berlanti (Rye, New York, May 24, 1972) is a screenwriter, producer and director of film and television of American nationality. He is known to be the creator of the Everwood television series and co-creator of Jack & amp; Bobby, Arrow and The Flash. He also co-wrote and produced the Green Lantern movie.
After graduating from Rye High School, he entered dramaturgy at Northwestern University, and in the mid-90s he went to various temporary jobs in Los Angeles to earn a living until Kevin Williamson, a friend of the university, he presented the screenplay for Dawson’s Creek, the, at that time, next series to be released, being finally hired as a scriptwriter during the second season, while Berlanti had already ready the script for his film, The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy. He was later recognized as the creator of the cult series Everwood, which aired between 2002 and 2006 and co-created Jack & amp; Bobby, issued between 2004 and 2005.
In 2006 he started working on several ABC projects, being initially a consultant of the series Brothers & amp; Sisters, to end up being executive producer of this until its end in 2011, also collaborated in Dirty Sexy Money issued between 2007 and 2009. For the same chain he worked in 2008 with Marc Guggenheim in Eli Stone, co-writing the script and being executive producer and in 2010 he was co-creator of No Ordinary Family. That same year he returned to direct after ten years in the movie Life as We Know It, starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. In 2011 he co-wrote the screenplay and served as a producer on Green Lantern. In his most recent works, he is the creator of the miniseries Political Animals for the USA Network and co-writes the history of the film, Wrath of the Titans, and is currently working as an executive producer in the series The CW, Arrow in which he collaborates with Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter since 2012 and The Tomorrow People in which he collaborates with Phil Klemmer, Julie Plec and Danny Cannon since 2013, Berlanti is also co-creator of both productions. He is also in the development of The Flash with Andrew Kreisberg, Geoff Johns and David Nutter.
Berlanti was born in Rye, New York, the son of Barbara Moller Berlanti and Eugene Berlanti, also has a sister, Dina, Greg’s family is of Italian and Irish descent. He is also a declared homosexual from an early age. He currently maintains a relationship with Los Angeles Galaxy footballer Robbie Rogers.
