Gloria Talbott’s Biography

Talbott was born in Glendale (California), his sister being also actress Lori Talbott.

Gloria Talbott began her career as a child actress in films such as Maytime (1937) Sweet and Lowdown (1943) and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945).

After finishing his studies, Talbott formed a dramatic group and took part in various shows held in clubs. When he got married he stopped acting but, after getting divorced, he resumed his career and worked extensively for film and television. In the decade of 1950 its activity was constant, intervening in productions like Crashout (1955), We’re No Angels (1955, comedy with Humphrey Bogart) and All That Heaven Allows (Only the sky he knows) (1955).

Talbott was later known as a ‘queen of the scream’ after acting in different horror films such as Daughter of Dr. Jekyll (1957), The Cyclops (1957), andMarried a Monster from Outer Space (1958).

For television he worked in several productions, including the following: The Cisco Kid; the western series of NBC Frontier; Sheriff of Cochise, show starring John Bromfield; the drama about the Civil War of the United States Gray Ghost; Whispering Smith, Western production of the NBC of 1961, in the role of Cora Gates, with Robert Redford playing her husband, Johnny Gates; episode “The Incident of the Calico Gun”, pertaining to the series of CBS Rawhide; The Brothers Brannagan, program in which he worked with Robert Harland in the 1961 installment “Terror in the Afternoon”; Gunsmoke, series in which he participated in three chapters: “Home Surgery”, “Cody’s Code” and “The Cousin”; “Superman” and, finally, several episodes of Perry Mason.

Married four times, Gloria Talbott died of kidney failure in Glendale, California in 2000. She was buried in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, Los Angeles.

His daughter Mea Mullally, born of her marriage to Steven J. Capabianco, won three gold medals in ice skating competitions.
