Elgin Baylor Lumpkin (No. Austin, Texas, October 15, 1970), known professionally as Ginuwine , is an American R & B singer and occasionally , actor. Signed by Epic Records since the mid-’90s, Ginuwine has recorded a large number of successful albums and singles, becoming one of the most successful R & B artists.

Ginuwine’s Biography

Ginuwine attended and graduated from Forestville High School in Forestville, Maryland, and Prince Georges Community College in Largo, Maryland with a paralegal degree, and soon began his musical career, becoming part of the collective Swing Mob. By then, you could see Ginuwine in one of Jodeci’s videos. There, he met rapper Missy Elliott and music producer Timbaland, who became one of his main collaborators during the 1990s. His first single, “Pony” from the album Ginuwine … The 1996 Bachelor, showed the audience his soft voice and the innovative production style of Timbaland, making the two a successful duo.

After their second album in 1999, 100% Ginuwine, he and Timbaland distanced themselves, and producers like R. Kelly started working with him thereafter. In 2001, Ginuwine placed his single “Differences” in position 4 of the Hot 100. In 2002, he appeared in the hit “I Need a Girl (Part II)” by P. Diddy. Later, Ginuwine would create his own record label, Bag Entertainment, which featured artists such as Jose Cenquentez (who appears on his album The Senior) and his wife Solè. Ginuwine is also known for discovering vocalist Tireh.

Ginuwine’s fifth and final album, Back II Da Basics, went on sale on November 15, 2005. The first single was “When We Make Love,” and the album debuted # 12 on Billboard 200, selling nearby of 80,000 copies. “I’m In Love”, a theme similar to his ballad # 1 in the “Differences” lists, is the second single. Ginuwine has also appeared on the album Todd Smith by LL Cool J on the track “Ooh Wee”.

The artist married Tonya Johnston (known as Sole) on September 8, 2003 in Mexico, and has two daughters, Story and Dream. Sole already has two other daughters, De’jan and Cypress, from a previous relationship, as well as Ginuwine, although he instead has a son, named Elgin Jr.
