The Get Up Kids is one of the most influential bands in the following decade to its birth. Coming from the suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri, they were formed in the mid-1990s.
The group was formed with the members of the Kingpin and Secret Decoder Ring groups, taking more than six years in this area.
After all the attention received for their debut EP “Shorty”, the group created three singles for the independent record labels Contrast and Doghouse Records, before releasing their first LP titled “Four Minute Mile” whose sales approached the forty thousand copies.
They soon started playing with bands like Braid, Jimmy Eat World, Mineral and MxPx, among others. After a tour of the United States and Europe, playing more than 200 concerts a year The Get Up Kids returned to work on the tracks for the album “Something To Write Home About” (1999).
Two years later, the album titled “Eudora” (2001) was released, containing 17 different songs, including versions by David Bowie, Mötley Crüe, Pixies and The Cure.
The following year he released “On a Wire” (2002), having a total of 12 songs with a softer tendency in his sound compared to his previous albums.
In 2004 the album titled “Guilt Show” was released, consisting of 13 titles, of which the single “The One You Want” stood out. For 2005 a compilation of live themes was released, called “Live @ the Granada Theater”.
After ten years, about a hundred recorded songs and several tours around the world, the band announces its separation with a statement on its website:

His last concert was on July 2, 2005 in Kansas City, his hometown.
The band announced its return at the end of 2008, as a celebration and re-launch of its second album.
In 2011, they release a new album, There Are Rules, although their sound moves away from the classic sound of the band, preferring an approach to post-punk and new wave.
