Geraldine Leigh Chaplin (Santa Monica, California, July 31, 1944) is an American actress who also has English and Spanish citizenship, with a broad internationally recognized cinematographic career.
Daughter of one of the most important filmmakers in history, Charles Chaplin and his last wife, Oona O’Neill – daughter of playwright Eugene O’Neill (Nobel Prize for Literature and Pulitzer Prize) and writer Agnes Boulton -, was born in the United States in 1944.
At age eight, his family emigrates to the Swiss town of Vevey (Vaud), and in 1961 he moved to England, joining the Royal Ballet School in London. She becomes a dancer, a model and even a clown at the Circus Medrano in Paris.
In 1963, she plays the role of Cinderella in the Theater of the Champs-Elysees, which together with her performance in The Wolf, directed by Mike Nichols in 1968, are her only theatrical incursions.
In cinema appeared as a child with his brothers in the film Chaplin Candilejas. In 1964 he stars with Jean-Paul Belmondo Kidnapping under the sun and a year later triumphs with his main role in Doctor Zhivago, by David Lean. The filming means the beginning of its roots in Spain.
