Fred_Durst’s Biography

Origins and Limp Bizkit

Fred Durst, the son of a policeman, grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina, where he was one of the few white kids in the black neighborhood where he lived. Durst started rapping at age 14 and encouraged by his parents he set up his first rap group, The Dynamic 3, which cost him more than a mockery at school. After finishing high school he embarked in the navy, married Aracely Tergesen, had a daughter and divorced when he discovered that his wife was cheating on him. Durst spent a month in jail for assaulting and assaulting his wife’s lover. At 20, he returned to Jacksonville where he started working as a tattoo artist and skateboarding. In 1994, he met Sam Rivers when he worked at Chick-fil-A, a fast food establishment. After seeing him at a concert, Durst convinced the bassist to leave his group and join him. As a drummer they recruited Rivers’ cousin, John Otto and as guitarist, another local musician, the young prodigy Wes Borland. Durst had a vision: to set up a group in which he could merge his taste for rap, and the metal group would be called Limp Bizkit (literally “flaccid cookie”), a name that, a priori, did not seem very commercial. A year later they would meet DJ Lethal, when he was opening for one of the last concerts of House of Pain. Shortly after that band dissolved, Lethal would join Durst’s band.

Durst also runs his own record label, Flawless Records, a division of Geffen Records. He has signed with groups such as Puddle of Mudd, The Revolution Smile, Ringside, and Staind.

The career and life of Durst and Limp Bizkit is closely linked to success and controversy.

At the Woodstock ’99 festival, there were numerous episodes of violence and even rapes as a result of Limp Bizkit’s performance. The most conservative sectors strongly accused Durst of inciting and promoting violence among the public.

At the Big Day Out in 2001 in Sydney, Australia, Durst was involved, indirectly, in the death of a 16-year-old Australian girl named Jessica Michalik, who was crushed to suffocation in the performance of Limp Bizkit. Durst, days before had alerted of the risk of avalanches and requested strong measures of security. Durst was videotaped asking the crowd that “safety comes first, if someone falls to the ground, lift him up.” However, Australian security services accused Durst of “alarming the public during the rescue of the girl.” This event caused the group to take security very seriously in their concerts thereafter, to the point that, also in 2001, the band refused to perform at the Festimad in Madrid because they were not satisfied with the security measures provided by the organization.

Fred Durst has also maintained controversial statements with various groups and musicians. With Slipknot, had a cross of statements, as Durst said that the followers of Slipknot were “the typical ugly and fat guys.” On Trent Reznor, leader of Nine Inch Nails, said at a concert that “who does not think that Trent Reznor should suck my dick?” [Quote required].

It is worth mentioning the synergy in music videos with rapper Eminem, in which Fred appears in “The Real Slim Shady” parodying the MTV Video Music Awards, and Eminem in the Limp Bizkit “Break Stuff”, where they also make cameos Jonathan Davis, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and their daughter Hailie.

It is also said that he was able to have sex with Christina Aguilera. As a result of this, something similar is mentioned in Eminem’s first single “The Real Slim Shady”, except that the singer only refers to the oral sex they had [citation required].

Far from the musical environment

Durst has proven himself as a film and video clip director several times. Between disc and disc, Fred signed a film contract to shoot the film Runt as director, with producer David Fincher (Se7en, The Fight Club), he has acted in the series Revelations where he played satanic, he has recorded videoclips for Staind, KoЯn or Puddle Of Mudd and directed an independent film called The Education Of Charlie Banks. There were also rumors about the possible production of Durst in some songs of Britney Spears’ album, In the Zone.

Precisely the photos taken by the paparazzi to Durst and Christina Aguilera infuriated the Limp Bizkit fans, who did not tolerate that their metal star was going out with a pop star.

As triviality, it is worth mentioning that Durst is known for his staging in most of his concerts, which include for example jumping on the public or getting naked. On April 13, 1999, during the Roskilde festival, it was launched to the public from a turret of 19-meter-high spotlights, which cost it several fractures in its ribs and one of its legs [citation required]. p>
