Fereydun Robert “Fred” Armisen (born December 4, 1966 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi) is an American actor and musician. He is best known for his collaborations on Saturday Night Live and for playing several foreign characters in films such as Eurotrip, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Cop Out. He is also co-producer, along with his partner Carrie Brownstein, of the comedy sketches program Portlandia.

Early life
Armisen was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and moved to New York when he was a baby, raised in Valley Stream, Long Island. It has Venezuelan roots on the mother and German-Japanese side on the father’s side.
He studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York until he left his studies to play as a drummer in a group, and in an interview with New York Magazine, he declared that since he was a child he always wanted to be a musical artist after watching The Clash and Devo groups.
Private life
In 1998 he was married to English singer-songwriter Sally Timms until 2004.
In January 2009 he became engaged to actress Elisabeth Moss after meeting in October 2008 on the Saturday Night Live show presented by Jon Hamm, a fellow cast member of Moss in the series Mad Men and with whom he participated in some sketches. They married on Long Island in October 2009. In August 2010, they informed the media that they had separated. On September 20, 2010, Moss asked Armisen for a divorce. and the separation proceedings were filed on June 26 until the divorce process ended on May 13, 2011. The divorce ended on May 13, 2011.
In August 2010, several media reported that Armisen was dating the Saturday Night Live member: Abby Elliot, whose relationship ended a year later.
In an interview with Real Time with Bill Maher, he declared himself an atheist.
