Emma Suárez Bodelón (Madrid, June 25, 1964) is a Spanish actress.
Born in a family away from the show and without a special vocation as an actress, with fourteen years old she is selected in a juvenile casting to star in the film adaptation of Leticia Valle’s Memoirs, by the writer Rosa Chacel.
He then decided to dedicate himself professionally to acting and in 1982 he made his debut in the theater with El cementerio de los pájaros, Antonio Gala’s work in which he shared the stage with Irene Gutiérrez Caba and Encarna Paso.
Self-taught actress, works in films by renowned directors such as Antonio Betancor (1919: Chronicle of the dawn), José Luis Garci (Continuous session) or José Luis Borau (Tata mía) and with new values such as Isabel Coixet (Too old for die young).
In 1986 he plays the niece and confidant of Carlota Núñez (Concha Cuetos) in the TVE series Tristeza de amor. His theatrical work continues in the works Bajar al moro and La Chunga.
Turned into a firm promise very well received by the critics, in 1989 she assumes her first main role as an adult actress in La blanca paloma, by Juan Miñón, where she coincides with Francisco Rabal and Antonio Banderas.
During the decade of 1990 his cinematographic successes happen, reaching remarkable popularity and prestige. The films that roll with the novel Julio Medem (Vacas, La Squirrel Red and Earth) anticipate the call of Pilar Miró to star in El perro del hortelano and Your name poisons my dreams. In all of them he forms a solid artistic pair with actor Carmelo Gómez.
In 1997 he returns to television with the series Dear Master. Afterwards, she is more selective in her film projects and resumes her theatrical career; in 2002, she starred with Aitana Sánchez-Gijón in the play Las criadas, by Jean Genet directed by Mario Gas. Other productions in which it takes part are Proserpina, Persephone (under Bob Wilson) and Uncle Vania (giving life to Elena’s character).
After filming Visionarios and El caballero Don Quijote with Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, in 2004 he plays the woman who falls in love with prisoner Juan José Garfia in the movie Horas de luz. Most recent are his performances in Bajo las estrellas, La casa de mi padre and La mosquitera.
Among his television works include The Swamp, Tell Me How It Happened and Hunters of Men.
Candidate on four occasions to the Goya Award, in 1996 she is imposed on Concha Velasco and Ana Torrent with her acclaimed interpretation in verse in the movie El perro del hortelano, by Pilar Miró, which also reports, among others, the Fotogramas prize of Silver.
Personally, she was married to director Juan Estelrich Jr., who directed her in the feature films La vida lactea y Pintadas and with whom she had her first child, Juan (born in 1992). After the break with Estelrich, Suárez was a couple of musician Andy Chango, with whom he had a daughter, until his breakup in 2010.
