Mickey Melchiondo is an American musician, known for being a guitarist (and occasional vocalist) of the rock band Ween, with whom he uses the pseudonym of Dean Ween ( sometimes it is also called Deaner). Melchiondo is also part of another group called Moistboyz, with whom he also uses a stage name, Mickey Moist .
Dean Ween’s Biography
Michael Melchiondo, Jr. was born on September 25, 1970 in New Hope, Pennsylvania, a rural city near New Jersey, in an Italian-American family that was involved in the business of the sale of used cars. Since he was young he had an interest in music, especially by country artists such as Hank Williams, Jr., Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings, as well as artists such as the Beatles and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. to play the drums, before learning to play the guitar, and tried to get a license from the FCC to have a radio program. He also created his own music magazine, titled Yuck, and at age 14 he met Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween) in a typing class with whom he would immediately form the Ween duo, adopting the name of Dean Ween. Since then the duo has released a large number of albums and they are still working together until today. Dean also participated in Synthetic Socks, a solo work by Freeman.In the mid-90s Melchiondo started another project called Moistboyz with his friend Guy Heller, adopting the name of Mickey Moist (while Heller uses the Dickie Moist).
Melchiondo has participated in two projects by his friend Joshua Homme: he played the guitar in three songs from Songs for the Deaf by Queens Of The Stone Age and he has contributed with Desert Sessions, he also played in solo works by Mark Lanegan, And worked with the Sound of Urchin group.
Some of his favorite guitarists include Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eddie Hazel, Santana and Prince. His favorite album is Sly & There’s a Riot Goin ‘On’ The Family Stone Melchiondo considers artists like Prince, The Beatles and Butthole Surfers as some of his main influences, as well as Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and various punk bands like The Clash, Dead Kennedys and the Sex Pistols. / p>
