David Rasche’s Biography

Rasche was born in the city of Saint Louis, Missouri. He began his career in the theater, although he also had appearances in several movies and television series. After John Belushi left for Saturday Night Live, he became one of the members of the The Second City theater company in the city of Chicago.

Rasche has a university degree from the University of Chicago. For a while he worked as a teacher and writer before getting involved in the show completely. He also appeared in the PNS special.

In 1974, he raised approximately $ 1,000 in profit to save the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago. He started acting in television and movies in 1977 and starred in his first film in 1978, An Unmarried Woman, directed by Paul Mazursky. The following year, he had a small participation in Manhattan, a comedy by Woody Allen.

His most famous character came with the 1980s series Sledge Hammer! (Hammer hammer, in Latin America). His unparalleled performance as the violent and chauvinistic detective made that series become cult. A few years earlier, Rasche participated in the 1983 television movie Special Bulletin, in which he plays the role of a terrorist.

He has participated in small roles in films such as Cobra, together with Brigitte Nielsen, emulating the role of photographer. He also starred in NBC’s sitcom Nurses in the early 1990s. His last performances were in the films The Sentinel, where he played President Ballentine, and in United 93, based on the events that took place on September 11, 2001 with Flight 93. of United Airlines that crashed in Pennsylvania. In this last film, Rasche played Donald Freeman Greene, a pilot of light aircraft who was a passenger at the time of the abduction and who joins the others in the fight against the terrorist kidnappers. He also participated in blockbuster films such as Just Married (2003), Burn After Reading (2008) and Men in Black 3 (2012), where he played Agent X.
