David Bowditch Morse (Beverly, Massachusetts, October 11, 1953) is an American Emmy Award-winning film and television actor.
He was born in Hamilton, Massachusetts, the son of Jacquelyn a teacher, and Charles Morse, a sales manager. He has three sisters. He married Susan Duff on June 19, 1982 and they have three children.
He started working with a theater group from his native New England, until he moved to New York to study acting. In 1980 he made his film debut with Richard Donner’s drama Inside Moves, where he was the bar clerk who unexpectedly signed up for a great basketball team, forgetting his neighbors of yesteryear.
In 1982, he became known to play a compassionate doctor who worked in a public hospital on the television series St. Elsewhere, where he was until 1988.
