Christopher Lee Short Bio
Christopher Frank Carandini Lee (London, May 27, 1922 – Ib., June 7, 2015) was an English actor and musician. His great love of sport, as well as his height (measured 1.96 meters), gave him a very recognizable physique. He played mostly villains and participated in about 250 productions since 1948. He was pigeonholed for several years in horror films when he played Count Dracula. He continued active until the end of his life, despite the advanced age he reached, and even during his last decade his career received a renewed boost with roles in box office successes, such as Saruman’s in The Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit or Count Dooku’s in the Star Wars ones.
He also collaborated with musical projects with bands like Rhapsody of Fire and Manowar, as well as having started a new career as a musician with his own symphonic heavy / power metal band Christopher Lee Charlemagne in 2010. That year, he received the award Spirit of Metal at the Golden Globe. In 2001 he was named commander of the Order of the British Empire.
