Catherine Deneuve (born Catherine Fabienne Dorléac ; Paris, October 22, 1943) is a French actress. She won recognition for her interpretation of mysterious and distant beauties for several directors, including Roman Polanski, in Repulsion (1965), and Luis Buñuel, in Belle de jour (1967) and Tristana (1970). Throughout the half century of her career, she has been awarded the César Prize, nominated for an Oscar for Indochina and a winner in the film festivals of Cannes, Berlin and Venice. She has also won the Almería Tierra de Cine prize and a star on the promenade of the fame of said city. He recently won one of the most important awards in the world of French-language films, the Lumière Award for his successful film career.
Catherine Deneuve’s Biography
Catherine Fabienne Dorléac was born in Paris during the Nazi occupation, daughter of the actors Maurice Dorléac (1901-1979) and Jeanne Renée Deneuve known as Renée Simonot (1911, still alive with 106 years); It is the third of four sisters. The other three are Danielle (1937) -sister of mother, only-, Françoise Dorléac (1942-1967) and Sylvie Dorléac (1946).
It debuted under the name of Catherine Dorléac in Les Collégiennes (1957). He changed his surname to his mother’s and after some work, the first famous director he worked with was Roger Vadim in Vice and Virtue, although his first big success came with the 1963 musical film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, by Jacques Demy, director with whom he made several films in the leading role.
