Margery Claire Johnson Carlson [note 1] (November 21, 1892 – July 5, 1985) was a botanist, curator, explorer, and American professor. in the family Scrophulariaceae, with emphasis on the genus Russelia.

Botany recognized worldwide for the defense of environmental conservation. She lived in Evanston from 1930 until her death in 1985. She taught botany at Northwestern University and was an associate researcher at the Field Museum, helping to build her collection of plants through her travels around the world. Nature Conservancy, helping preserve Volo Bog, State Beach of Illinois and Matthiessen State Park. She was active in Evanston throughout her life, promoting the Victory Gardens during the Second World War and helping to create the Lighthouse Nature Center (today the Carlson greenhouse is named after her).
