Carlo_Imperato’s Biography

He adopted his grandfather’s real name as his stage name when he joined the Screen Actors Union. He began his artistic career on stage, and with only fifteen years he intervenes in the musical Work, premiered on Broadway in 1978. That same year, also on Broadway, he appears in the show Runaways, deserving of three Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Choreography and Best Soundtrack.

In 1979 he debuted on television in a chapter of the series Angie. In successive years he gets small roles in television, although his great opportunity comes through the character of Danny Amatullo, an aspiring comic actor, who is trained at the New York School of Art in the popular series of the eighties Fama. Imperato played the character throughout the six seasons that lasted the series (1983-1987). It was, along with Gene Anthony Ray and Debbie Allen, the only cast member that stayed throughout the broadcast time.

He also learned to take advantage of the popularity by starting a short career as a singer, which highlights the single Friday Night, which came to have great commercial impact in the UK.

After the cancellation of the series, his artistic career began the decline. Since then he has appeared on screen, in an episode of the series Friends in 1995 and in secondary characters in the films Out-of-Sync (1995), directed by his former co-star in Fame, Debbie Allen; Face to Face (2001), starring Mädchen Amick and Crazy Love (2005), by Ellie Kanner.

He has married three times with Andrea Eck Imperato (1988-1995), Kimberly Green (1996-1998) and in 2000 with Angela Imperato and has three children.
