Carl Dean Wilson (December 21, 1946 – February 6, 1998) was an American songwriter and guitarist, founding member of the California group The Beach Boys, formed in 1961 along with his brothers Dennis. (drums), Brian (bass, keyboards and vocals), his cousin Mike Love (vocals) and his friend Alan Jardine (guitar). In 1988 he was included with the other beach boys in the Rock Hall of Fame.
He started in music from a very young age, doing only choirs and playing the solo guitar, although later on changing his voice he ended up as a solo voice in many of his brother Brian’s compositions, highlighting “God Only Knows”, within the Summit album of The Beach Boys Pet Sounds of 1966.
Carl Wilson died of lung cancer in February 1998, three months after the death of his mother Audrey. His remains are in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
