Carl Bosch (Cologne, August 27, 1874 – Heidelberg, April 26, 1940) was a German chemist and engineer who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1931 for his work on synthesis of ammonia.
Carl Bosch’s Biography
He studied at the Polytechnic Institute of Charlottenburg (today Technical University of Berlin) and, from 1892, at the University of Leipzig where he graduated in 1898.
In 1919 he held the general management of BASF. In 1925 he was one of the founders of the company IG Farbenindustrie, important group of German chemical companies resulting from the merger of BASF, Agfa and Hoechst, of which he would later become general director between 1935 and 1940.
Bosch died on April 26, 1940 in the city of Heidelberg, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
