Antônio de Oliveira (October 5, 1960), popularly known as Careca , in homage to the popular Brazilian clown “Carequinha”, is a Brazilian ex-football player.

Careca’s Biography

Careca began his career in 1978, in a brilliant way like most of the great cracks in the history of world football and was playing for the Guaraní of the city of Campinas in Brazil. In that same year and before turning 18 was essential to achieve the feat, to get the first and only national title in the history of Guarani in the Brasileirao 1978, scoring a goal in the final lap in Campinas against the favorite Palmeiras winning 1-0 (the aggregate was 2-0). In 1983 he was transferred to São Paulo, where he remained until 1987.

He was transferred to SSC Napoli in 1987, forming a powerful attack trio with Bruno Giordano and Diego Maradona. In his first season he scored 13 goals, but his second season was more successful, getting a UEFA Cup and the runner-up of Serie A. The scudetto would come in 1990, the last season he would play alongside Maradona.

I would play three more seasons in Naples, until being transferred to Kashiwa Reysol of the J. League. There he would remain until 1997, when he would return to the Santos of Brazil. After a season he would go to the Esporte Clube São José, where he would retire in 1999. Careca left his retirement for a short time to play in the Garforth Town of the English ninth division.
