Trevor James Smith, Jr. (May 20, 1972, Brooklyn, New York), better known as Busta Rhymes , is an American rapper and actor. The nickname comes from former NFL player George “Buster” Rhymes, which was given to him by Chuckof Public Enemy. He is known for his quick verses and his great vocal ability.

Trevor James Smith, Jr. was born in East Flatbush, a neighborhood in the New York borough of Brooklyn, the son of Cherry Green and Trevor Smith. In 1983 his family moved to Uniondale, a suburb of New York on Long Island.

Rhymes began at age 17 as a member of Leaders of the New School, with his Long Island neighbors Charlie Brown, Dincoand his cousin Cut Monitor Milo. They began recording in 1989 and released their debut album A Future Without a Past in 1991 on Elektra Records. In 1993, they launched T.I.M.E. (The Inner Mind’s Eye). However, shortly after problems arose in the group, and separated in 1994 after a live discussion in a chapter of Yo! MTV Raps.

Busta Rhymes released “Woo Hah! Got You All in Check” in 1996 as a single from their multi-album The Coming. His second album, When Disaster Strikes, released in 1997, contained the singles “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” and “Dangerous.”

In the same year he released The Imperial as part of the Flipmode Squad, a collaborative project with rappers Rampage, Lord Have Mercy, Spliff Star, Rah Digga and Baby Sham. Rhymes’ fascination with cinema is reflected in Extinction Level Event (The Final World Front), released in 1998. The frantic single “Gimme Some More” reached number 5 on the British list in January 1999. The song “What’s It Gonna Be ?! ‘, a duet with Janet Jackson, reached the top 10 American and British Rhymes has combined his musical career with some actor roles.In 2000 he worked on several film projects and recorded his last album with Elektra, Anarchy.

After leaving Elektra, Rhymes signed for J Records, a new label founded by Clive Davis (former founder of Arista Records). In 2001, he released an album of successes along with a new album with original work entitled Genesis. Genesis marked the return of Busta Rhymes, with hits like “Break Ya Neck” and “Pass the Courvoisier” produced by hip-hop producers Dr. Dre and The Neptunes, respectively.

On November 26, 2002, Busta Rhymes released his sixth album: It’s Not Safe No More. His first single, “Make It Clap,” was moderately successful. The second single, a duet with Mariah Carey titled “I Know What You Want” was a bit more successful, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard pop charts.

Busta Rhymes recently signed with the Aftermath Entertainment label, with which he has released the album The Big Bang in 2006.

Busta has appeared in some films, including Higher Learning, Full Clip, Discovering Forrester, Halloween: Resurrection and the Shaft version made in 2000, among others. It is rumored that he has problems with the police due to several murders of his acquaintances and several aggressions against fans.

In March 2008 he collaborated with the alternative Japanese hippop group Teriyaki Boyz with Pharrell on his latest single and video whose name is entitled “Zock On!”, the theme was presented on the music program Music Station on the 14th March 2008. Also his song “Where’s My F – kin Money” was included in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV.

In mid-November 2011 it was announced that Busta Rhymes was hired by the labels Cash Money and Young Money (YMCMB), commanded by Birdman and Lil Wayne.

He acted in the movie “Halloween the resurrection” in 2003.
