Brandon Flowers’s Biography

Born on June 21, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Flowers is the youngest of six children. He has a brother Shane and 4 sisters, April, Shelly, Amy and Stephanie. The Flowers family lived in Henderson, Nevada, until Brandon was 8 years old. Then, they moved to Payson, two years before moving to Nephi, Utah, when he was in sixth grade. Brandon lived in Nephi until his junior year of high school at Juab High School. He moved to Las Vegas to live with his aunt and graduated from Chaparral High School in 1999.

The person who influenced Flowers in his musical discovery was his brother Shane, twelve years older than him, with whom he could meet several bands that would be the basis for his later musical career as The Smiths, New Order, as well as The Cars, The Beatles, Morrissey, The Cure, James and Oasis.

His love for music discovered him on the way to his first day of class in college, he listened to David Bowie’s Heroes song on his car radio, from that moment he decided to dedicate himself to the world of music.

With definite musical tastes and after leaving university, Brandon worked as a doorman at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Musical career

Flowers joined the Blush Response group, but was expelled in 2001 when he refused to move with the rest of them to Los Angeles, California. The Killers was later founded, when Flowers responded to an announcement by guitarist Dave Keuning in Las Vegas, which was looking for a vocalist to form a band. Mark Stoermer became the bassist and Ronnie Vannucci the drummer.

One of his main influences as a singer has been Bruce Springsteen:

grew up listening to synth-pop and to English bands like New Order and the Smiths, but one day, driving through Las Vegas, put on one of those radio stations that are dedicated to classic rock and played Born to Run. He was 24 years old. Asparked the car, went to buy the disk. Listening to that record, did not have New Jersey in my head, but an America thatrecognized and had forgotten in some way. After spending a lot of time trapped in English music, this album opened a door for me: it reminded me of the place wherelived and to whichbelong. The real epiphany is “Thunder Road”,love his sentimentality andthinkunderstand my father more thanks to Bruce Springsteen
