In 1989, a band called Lock Up, released an album (titled Somethin ‘Bitchin’ This Way Comes) by the record company Geffen and brought some attention to its release. The guitarist of Lock Up, Tom Morello was looking for how to leave the band to form a new one, and called Brad, in case he was interested in the project. He accepted, shortly after the duo met Zack de la Rocha, a rapper, and thanks to de la Rocha, Tim Commerford joined the band (a childhood friend of Zack), RATM was born.
After participating in numerous controversies with this group, within which he lived in conflict with elements such as the police and the constant threat posed by censorship for being labeled as troublemakers and mass agitators, Zack de la Rocha left the group in the 2000 claiming that a stage had ended. The other members of the band after a year, form a new band called Audioslave together with former Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell. The band finally dissolved in 2007, which caused that all the members of Audioslave except the singer were reunited with Zack de la Rocha for a meeting of Rage Against the Machine.

In June 2016, Brad met with Tim Commerford, and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Chuck D and DJ Lord members of Public Enemy, and with B-Real from Cypress Hill, and formed the so-called super band called Prophets of Rage, releasing in July 2016 the first single with the same name Prophets of Rage .
