Big Sean’s Biography

First years of life and beginnings of career

Sean Michael Anderson was born in Santa Monica, California, and moved to two months old west of Detroit, where he was raised by his mother and grandmother. He studied at the Waldorf School in Detroit. Big Sean is often heard saying “west side” (west) in his songs, he is referring to the western part of his hometown, Detroit, Michigan. In his last years in high school, Sean got a valuable relationship with hip hop.

In 2005, Kanye West was doing a radio interview on 102.7 FM. Sean, hearing about this, went to the rajadio station, where Kanye West was, to sing and perform a bit of freestyle. At first West was reluctant to the MC, however he gave Sean 16 rap bars for him. Big Sean left a demo-tape, and two years later, West finally signed Big Sean in G.O.O.D. Music.

2007-2010: Mixtapes and Internet Tracking

On September 30, 2007, Big Sean released its first official Mixtape Finally Famous: The Mixtape. Their single, “Get’cha Some”, produced by WrighTrax, got the attention of the media and came out in articles in “The Source” and the newspaper “Detroit Metro Times.” He also recorded a music video for “Get’cha Some”, which was directed by Hype Williams. Sean released a second mixtape on April 16, 2009, called UKNOWBIGSEAN. It counted on the songs “Million Dollars”, “Get’cha Some” and “Supa Dupa”. This mixtape includes 30 tracks. Sean released a third mixtape on August 31, 2010, called Finally Famous Vol. 3: BIG. The tracks include accompaniment of several artists such as: King Chip, Curren $ and, SAYITAINTTONE, Tyga, Drake, Mike Posner, Suai, Chuck Inglish, Asher Roth, Don Kennedy, James Boldy, and Chiddy Bang. The mixtape includes 20 tracks. Big Sean mentioned on June 7, 2011 the possibility of a new mixtape. The mixtape had to have been released before the album, Finally Famous. With the album already released, the date for the mixtape is unknown.

2010-2012: Finally Famous

It is the debut album by Big Sean and includes collaborations by Rick Ross, Pharrell, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Bang Chiddy and Pusha T. The album was released on June 28, 2011. The first single from the album “My Last “, has the collaboration of Chris Brown and is produced by No ID The second single of the album is “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay”, with Roscoe Dash and Kanye West. Both singles reached # 30 and # 32 on the Billboard 100, respectively.

Big Sean was arrested on August 4, 2011 for sexual assault at a concert in Lewiston, New York. On October 26, 2011, Big Sean pleaded guilty, and paid a $ 750.00 fine and all charges were dropped.

In September 2011, Big Sean confirmed in an interview with the Daily Tribune that he will work on his second album during theAm Finally Famous Tour and plans to release it in the summer of 2012.
