Big Boi’s Biography

Big Boi was born and spent the first part of his childhood in Savannah, before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. He had a great interest in rap and met André 3000 at the Tri Cities High School in the late 80’s. Later, they both joined to form OutKast, signing for LaFace Records.

In contrast to his companion, calmer, the mentality of Big Boi resembles more that of a pimp or a partier. Big Boi is identified by its speed at the time of rapping and its extremely complicated rhymes, a style that has begun to be different since the ATLiens album. Patton is also the most direct member of the group, often using his lyrics to criticize the problems besetting the African-American community and the entire world.

In addition to his work with OutKast and Dungeon Family, Big Boi has appeared in songs by other artists without Andre 3000. His most notable appearances have been in the tracks “All N My Grill” by Missy Elliott (1999), “85 South “by YoungBloodZ, and” In Da Wind “by Trick Daddy (2001).

After four successful albums with Outkast, Andre 3000 decided to record a solo album. Big Boi also produced a solo album, and the two albums appeared together calling themselves Speakerboxxx /The Love Below, in 2003. A song from each album was recorded in September of that year as a single. Big Boi chose “The Way You Move”, a smooth urban anthem, with the collaboration of Sleepy Brown. At first it sounded only on the urban radio, but later it sneaked into the pop charts and became as big a hit as “Hey Ya!”, The single from Andre 3000. The Way You Move “supplanted” Hey Ya! “As # 1 on the US pop charts, one of the few times in the history of music in which a group has replaced itself at the top of the charts. Big Boi’s album was “Ghetto Musick”, a sample of “Love, Need & amp; Want You “by Patti LaBelle.

In November 2005, Big Boi recorded his new album, Got Purp? Vol 2, with Purple Ribbon All-Stars, under Purple Ribbon Records, formerly known as Aquemeni Records, but was renamed after André’s departure from the company. The group is a collective of Dungeon Family artists. The first single was “Kryptonite”, a hit on hip hop radios.

Big Boi’s little brother raps under the name of James Patton, and is a member of the hip hop group Konkrete.
