Bebel Gilberto , artistic name of Isabel Gilberto de Oliveira (New York, May 12, 1966), is a composer and performer of Brazilian music, coming from a family of Brazilian artists: daughter of João Gilberto and singer Miúcha (Heloísa Maria Buarque de Hollanda) and niece of the singer and composer Chico Buarque. She started singing as a child, participating in children’s choirs on albums and musical works such as Os Saltimbancos and Pirlimpimpim.

At the early age of 7, Bebel makes an appearance on the solo album of his mother Miucha. At the age of 9, Bebel participates with his mother and saxophonist Stan Getz at the Carnegie Hall Jazz Festival.

She was a great friend of the singer Cazuza, a great figure of Brazilian rock from the 80s, with whom she made a duet in the song Precise Dizer Que Te Amo. During the decade of the 90, Bebel collaborated with many musical stars like Arto Lindsay, Thievery Corporation, David Byrne, Towa Tei, Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque. In 1996 Bebel participated in the charity project Red Hot + Rio AIDS, which was produced by his collaborator and close friend Béco Dranoff. At that time, Bebel succeeds as a composer with international dance hits “Technova” and “Batucada” in collaboration with artists such as Towa Tei and Arto Lindsay.

Already in the year 2000 with the production of the Yugoslav artist and producer Suba, he released his first album Tanto Tempo, record sales, and in 2004, produced by Marius de Vries, Carlinhos Brown and Gilberto herself, edited the album Bebel Gilberto, with a more international adult pop sound. It is a less electronic record than the previous ones, in which the personality of Bebel is more evident, as well as his love for organic styles. It was made under the baton of famous producers, among which are Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen), John King (Dust Brothers, Beck), Daniel Jobim, Carlinhos Brown, Didi Gutman (Brazilian Girls) and Mario Caldato Jr. ( Beastie Boys, Björk, Jack Johnson).

Since the release of “Tanto Tempo” in 2000, Bebel has sold more than two and a half million albums and its music has been part of film soundtracks such as “Next Stop Wonderland”, “Bubble”, ” Closer “and more recently in the films” Eat Pray Love “of 2010 and” Rio “of 2011 and in different television series such as Sex and the City, Six Feet Under and Nip / Tuck, among others.
