Barbara Woolworth Hutton (New York, November 14, 1912-11 May 1979) was an American socialite considered one of the few richest women in the world in the 20th century. It was nicknamed by the tabloid press as “The poor rich girl” because of her personal loneliness as a child.

Barbara Hutton was born into an aristocratic family in New York, daughter of Edna Woolworth, one of the three daughters and heiresses (Helena, Edna and Jessie) of the fortune of tycoon Frank Winfield Woolworth who had amassed a huge Fortune with the Winfield & amp; Woolworth; but he was not always rich, but was descended from a family of farmers from England. In 1900 he moved to the United States to fulfill the American dream but as soon as he started working he fell seriously ill and his parents hired a young nurse who later became his wife.
