His paternal great-grandfather was oil tycoon and philanthropist Armand Hammer, while his great-grandfather, Julius Hammer, who immigrated from Odessa (Ukraine), founded the Communist Party in New York. His mother’s family comes from Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to Armie Hammer himself, his ancestors are “half Jewish.”
Hammer lived several years in the prominent enclave Highland Park (Dallas). His family moved to the Cayman Islands when he was eleven years old. His next film was The Lone Ranger, an adaptation of the series of the same name in which Armie Hammer makes the masked and starred with Johnny Depp. The film, although not very successful at the box office, was one of the most enjoyed by the actor, who admitted being a fan of the series when he was small and that for him was like going back to his childhood. In the summer of 2015, Operation U.N.C.L.E was released, an adaptation of the series of the 60s, in which he plays the KGB agent, Ilya Kuryakin, and who stars alongside Henry Cavill, Alicia Vikander and Hugh Grant.
