He studied at St. Winifrid’s School in Eastbourne.
She became a popular actress performing in films such as Perfect Strangers (1945, in the role of a nurse) and The Seventh Veil (1945, as a pianist). Perhaps she is best known for her role as wife of Gregory Peck in Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Paradine Case (1947).
In addition to her activity as an actress, Todd produced a series of travel films. He also published an autobiography entitled The Eighth Veil, an allusion to the film that made it a star in the United Kingdom.
Ann Todd got married three times. Her first husband, Victor Malcolm, was the grandson of Lillie Langtry. Her other two husbands, Nigel Tangye and David Lean, were carnal cousins. Todd married film director David Lean in 1949, working on several of his films, including The Passionate Friends (1949), Madeleine (1950) and The Sound Barrier (1952).
Ann Todd died in 1993 in London (England) because of a stroke. He was 84 years old.
