Amar’e Carsares Stoudemire (Lake Wales, Florida, November 16, 1982) is an American basketball player who played 14 seasons in the NBA and currently plays in the ranks of Hapoel Jerusalem .

Stoudemire was chosen by the Phoenix Suns in the 9th position of the 2002 NBA Draft, proclaiming himself at the end of the Rookie of the Year season. He was chosen in the best quintet of the NBA in the 2006-07 season. In addition, he has been an All-Star six times. With the American team he won the bronze medal at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

Stoudemire’s first name was previously named by the Suns’ guide as “Amaré” or “Amare”, but was changed to “Amar’e” in October 2008. According to NBA.com, his name had been always correctly written, but the media mischaracterized his name since he entered the league, with 2.08 meters tall, he plays in the power forward and pivot positions.
