Alberto Kenya Fujimori Fujimori (Japanese: 藤森 藤森 ア ル ベ ル ト [Fujimori Fujimori Aruberuto]; Lima, July 28, 1938) is an agronomist (with graduate studies in physics and mathematics) , politician and kleptocrat of Peruvian and Japanese nationalities. He held the Presidency of the Republic of Peru between July 28, 1990 and November 21, 2000.

Fujimori is a controversial figure in Peru. He is currently free after being pardoned on December 24, 2017 after having completed 10 years of a 25-year prison sentence for crimes against humanity and crimes of corruption of his authorship. He has been described as authoritarian by the press and part of the population, and by some public figures as a dictator, mainly as a result of the “autogolpe” of 1992. In 2004, the NGO Transparency International estimated the fortune at about 600 million dollars illegally kneaded by Fujimori during the ten years he was in power, of this money, only about 160 million have been returned to the Peruvian State as of 2009.

Fujimori has been the leader of six different political groups: the Cambio 90 movement, the Nueva Mayoría party, the Vamos Vecino movement, the Peru 2000 alliance, the Sí Cumple party and the Alianza por el Futuro; also unsuccessfully sought a seat in the Japanese Senate by the Kokumin Shintō party.
