Al Jean (born January 9, 1961 in Farmington Hills, Michigan) is a producer and writer, recognized primarily for his work on the animated series The Simpsons.
During his youth, Jean worked at his father’s hardware store in Michigan. He graduated from Harrison High School and later attended Harvard University, where he graduated in Mathematics and collaborated with Harvard Lampoon.
He has written articles for the National Lampoon magazine, and scripts for The Tonight Show, ALF and The PJs. In 1994, along with Mike Reiss, he created the animated series The Critic, which was aired and canceled on both ABC and FOX, before succeeding in reruns of Comedy Central. Then, he created a series of Internet shorts based on the character Jay Sherman, in 2001.
He was an executive producer during the third and fourth seasons of The Simpsons.
Along with Mike Reiss. Previously, he had written and produced episodes since the beginning of the series. He was one of the producers and writers of The Simpsons: the movie. He has been executive producer of The Simpsons since the thirteenth season to the present, and Jean appears frequently in the DVD commentary of The Simpsons, forming part of the commentaries on almost every episode that he has produced or collaborated with. / p>
