Adam Carolla (born May 27, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American radio and television presenter and actor. He is a presenter of The Adam Carolla Podcast, and before that he was on a morning radio program where he broadcast from Los Angeles through CBS Radio until the local station changed format. In addition to these programs, Carolla is known as a looter of the Loveline program from 1995 to 2005 and co-presenter on television of The Man Show (1999-2004) and co-creator of Crank Yankers.

In 2006, he starred in The Hammer, an independent film where he was the co-writer and producer as well as playing the lead role in place of Heather Juergensen. The film premiered in March 2008.

Childhood and youth

Carolla was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her parents are Jim Carolla, an Italian-American psychologist and Chris Novello, a sexologist whose parents gave her no intermediate name, as if it were a joke, she wrote on her driver’s license “Adam Lakers Carolla”.

After living in Menominee and Secane, her family settled in San Fernando Valley and Adam grew up in North Hollywood, California. His family was often a topic to discuss in his radio program; and commented that his parents were disinterested, and continue to be, about his life. Carolla describes her family as good people, fair and honest, but often they are opposed to doing something that involves getting up off the couch and doing a task. She also alleges that in her family they are stingy, Carolla always received small amounts of money, usually coins for her birthday instead of gifts.

He studied at Colfax Elementary School, Walter Reed Junior Institute and North Hollywood Institute. He never got good grades, graduated with an average of 1.75 above the median. She commented that she had to improve in ceramics, Carolla did not receive her diploma until years later, because (she says) she owed the bookstore, 19.95 dollars for a copy of We The People (ISBN 0-385-41903-1) However, he made the payment for the history book, years later it would be included in his comic project, The Adam Carolla Project being the reason why he did not attend the graduation ceremony of his institute.

The class clown and captain of the football team was chosen. For several years he played in Pop Warner, then suggested that playing sports would save him from his chaotic life at home.

Became independent at 18 years old. After studying for a brief period at Los Angeles Valley University, where he obtained an academic approval before beginning his working life in a series of jobs, including, carpet cleaner, carpenter, boxing instructor and of traffic in a driving school.


Carolla declared that when she was young, her dream was to write comedies. But he had never anticipated that he would work on the radio or in movies and television in front of the cameras. In his free time he worked his comic ability with The Groundlings as a live comedian, but he never believed that it was the best for him. He performed for a few years at Acme Comedy Arts, during which time he worked with M. D. Sweeney, Paul Rugg and John P. McCann.

Between her twenties and while working in various jobs, Carolla grew up listening to the radio. After age 20, he heard a boxing instructor training Jimmy Kimmel on the radio. At the time, he was a personality in the radio world on KROQ radio, in the morning program Kevin and Bean as “Jimmy, the type of sports.” Carolla met Kimmel on her station and the two They became friends. When asked how to get a position in the chain, Jimmy replied that he had to create a character. Later Carolla would join the program as “Mr. Birchum,” the intractable and misanthropic veteran teacher of Vietnam.

Personal life

On September 28, 2002, he married Lynette Paradise, with whom he had two children (twins), the first was born by cesarean, another of his children was born on June 7, 2006. In The Adam Carolla Show mentioned repeatedly that at the beginning the date of delivery should be June 6, but he and Lynette decided to delay it one day so that it did not coincide with June 6, 2006, whose date had the symbolic numbering 666 (06- 06-06).

Regarding his religious beliefs, Carolla has declared: «I am not agnostic, I am an atheist and I do not doubt the existence of God, I just know that there is no god in any of the ways. I know there are other laws within our universe. I know that there is no god and that most people think the same, only they do not want to admit it because there is another thing they also know. They know that one day they will have to die and that terrifies them. Most do not have the courage to admit it and they know it. They feel it. They try to repress themselves, and if you express yourself, then they get angry because they are terrified to recognize it. ”
